David Luiz says Chelsea must be prepared to tackle Europa League challenge

Chelsea defender David Luiz has said that the Blues must be prepared to tackle the challenge ahead in the Europa League as the competition could be crucial to their Champions League prospects. The west London side are currently just three points behind the top four of the Premier League but judging by the recent domestic form, they seem to have a better chance of prevailing in Europe.

Speaking on the club’s official website, Luis said that the Blues have to be ready for every moment in the forthcoming months, if they are to end the season with a trophy in their hands, he quipped: "To understand we have to be ready for every single moment. Bad moments can arrive, emotional moments can arrive, hard moments can arrive, and we have to be ready for that. To win a tournament is not just flowers. I have learned a lot in my career, and football is nice because there is always something new, and you also have to be ready for that."

“Chelsea have remained in the hunt for the top four over the course of the season" but their form has been concerning on the road since the turn of the year with just one win from six league meetings. As such, things don’t look bright for the Capital outfit in terms of the Champions League push through the league and it remains to be seen whether they “can transform their fortunes" after the international break.

Meanwhile, the Blues are favourite to secure the Europa League title and they have been afforded with a relatively simpler route to the final of the tournament when compared to Napoli and Arsenal, who have been pitted against each other at the quarter-final phase. Chelsea face Spartak Moscow across two legs during the last-eight stage next month.
