MICHAEL ESSIEN NAMES HIS BEST MANAGER

Ghanaian football legend Michael Essien has named the best manager he had during his illustrious football career. In a chat with TalkSport earlier this month, the former Blues midfielder talked about the manager he enjoyed playing for the most.

Michael Essien churned out impressive performances for some of the best managers in the world during his playing career before he took the role of a player/coachat Danish topflight club Nordsjaellandearlier this year. The 37-year-old was previously at Azerbaijani club Sabailfor the whole of last season.

When asked about his best manager, Michael Essien was crystal clear in his answer to the question. According to him, Jose Mourinho is the best manager he played under during his career. The Portuguese tactician was the Chelsea manager when the Blues paid a then club-record fee of £26m for Michael Essien in 2005. He had signed for the West London giants on the back of winning two successive Ligue 1 titles at Lyon.
Under Mourinho, Michael Essien became one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and was an important member of the Chelsea team till the Portuguese tactician left the club in 2007.Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien won the Premier League title in his first season with the Blues. He also played for Mourinho when he was the Real Madrid manager.
Michael Essien also mentioned current Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti as the midfielder revealed that he enjoyed a very good working relationship with the Italian tactician. Ancelotti also managed Essien at Chelsea and the both won the Premier League title during the 2009/10 season.
On his new career path, Michael Essien revealed his delight at his new position of a player/coach at Nordsjaelland and that he's enjoying the new role. Michael Essien wants to pass on his expertise to footballers.
