ESSIEN PREDICTS FA CUP FINAL WRONGLY

Chelsea legend Michael Essien has made a wrong prediction on the FA Cup final after he backed the Blues to beat Leicester City. In his latest interview granted shortly before the FA Cup final and monitored by popular English media portal Metro, Essien backed Chelsea to beat Leicester City to win the trophy.

In the end, Michael Essien was proved wrong as Leicester City stunned Chelsea in the FA Cup final played at the Wembley Stadium at the weekend to win the competition for the first time. Belgian international YouriTielemans was the hero for the Foxes as he produced a moment of brilliance to win the game. His unstoppable long range shot found the back in the net in the second half to give Leicester City a 1-0 win over Chelsea.Tielemans was rightly named the best player at the end of the game.

Leicester City had earlier sealed a place in the FA Cup final by beating Southampton in the semis last month. Super Eagles player Kelechi Iheanachowas the recipient of the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over the Saints. On their part, Chelsea reached their second successive FA Cup final following the 1-0 win over favourites Manchester City. The Blues stopped the quadruple dream at Manchester City with the win.

Chelsea have now lost two straight finals in the competition after London rivals Arsenal came from behind to beat the Blues 2-1 in last year's final thanks to a brace from club skipper Pierre-EmerickAubameyang.

Michael Essien said the 2007 FA Cup title is his favourite when asked as he said it was his first in the competition. Didier Drogba was the hero for Chelsea in the final after he scored in extra time to give the Blues a 1-0 win at the end of extra time.
